Tsomo lake in Sikkim is the brilliance of natural beauty surrounded with pine trees that is about a kilometer long. It is a glacial lake located 40 kms from Ganagtok town and is one of the most popular visiting places in Sikkim. Its altitude is 5410ft from Gangtok. The lake water is very clear and it looks more beautiful when the reflection of surrounding hills and tress fall on it.
The Tsomo lake view point and the are above it is protected due to the China border. So to visit the lake you must have the Protected Area Permit before visiting the place. Make sure you carry valid ID proof and do not forget to wear appropriate shoes and warm clothes as there might be snow in that region.
The best time to visit Tsomo lake is in summer. The lake is open in all seasons but in winter it is extremely cold and the lake gets frozen.You can enjoy the yak ride or the mule ride. There are also some small tea stalls near the lake. For snow boots and jackets there are shops available from where you can rent it. Also you an enjoy the ropeway which climbs to 14500 ft that gives an amazing view of the lake and mountains.
